About Us
Heather graduated from the University of Auckland Law School in 2010 with a LLB(Hons). Heather's Honours thesis focused on the enforceability of Restraints of Trade clauses in Employment Agreements. Heather also has a BCom majoring in Accountancy. Prior to returning to university to complete her law degree, Heather ran a business providing a range of change management services to many employees whose roles were disestablished in the early 2000's. This involved working with corporates as well as government agencies and assisting throughout the restructuring process.
Following the completion of her law degree, Heather was employed by the Ministry of Justice as a Judges' Clerk at the Employment Court in Auckland on a two-year internship, during which time she had the privilege of working one-on-one with some of the best legal minds specialising in Employment Law in New Zealand. For the first of her two years at the Court, Heather served as the sole Judges' Clerk for all of New Zealand.
Following the end of her term at the Employment Court, Heather was employed in the Employment Litigation team at Simpson Grierson in Shortland Street, Auckland where she began practising in her chosen area of law. Once again, Heather was fortunate to work under highly experienced litigators in Employment Law and learned strong advocacy skills during her time at this highly reputable corporate law firm.
Heather was then offered a position at Schnauer & Co in Milford, Auckland where she set up an Employment Law practice within the firm before she and her husband made the big move to relocate to Ohope in the Eastern Bay of Plenty. Heather joined the largest law firm in Whakatane, Hamertons Lawyers Limited, where she continued to practice in the area of Employment Law for over eight years until her retirement at the end of 2022.
Although Heather loves the flexibility that retirement offers, it has become clear to her that she would like to use the skills she has gained in her many years of practice to assist clients by offering a lower cost service to provide assistance to clients who may feel they are otherwise unable to access their right to justice.
